After news broke that sales of Nintendo Switch in Japan would be affected by a new coronavirus outbreak, the U.S. company said it believed Switch sales in North America and Europe would not be affected, media reported. Nintendo has previously issued an apology for delays in the delivery of Switch consoles and accessories and Ring-Fit Adventure, which the company says has affected production.
But it seems that these delays only affect products made in China and sold in Japan. In an interview with Kotaku, a Nintendo USA spokesman issued the following statement:
“We can confirm that production of some Nintendo products sold in the Japanese market has been delayed due to the impact of the new coronavirus outbreak in 2019. Currently, Nintendo does not anticipate a significant impact on our broader global systems and accessories supply chain, nor will product sales in North America and Europe, including bookings. At this challenging time, we express our concern and support for all those affected by the new coronavirus. “
While booking dates for The New Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme Switch have been delayed, bookings in Western countries will not be affected.
