The WHO named the new coronavirus “COVID-19” vaccine within 18 months

The Global Forum on Research and Innovation opened in Geneva on 11 February. WHO Director-General Tan Desai announced at a press conference that the new coronavirus will be named “COVID-19”. According to Reuters, the World Health Organization also said that the new coronavirus “COVID-19” vaccine may be completed within 18 months.

Who explained in a twitter message that, according to guidelines negotiated between WHO and the World Organization for Animal Health and FAO, we must find a name that is not geographically, animalally, personally or demographically relevant and that should be pronounced and associated with disease.

It is important to have a formal name to prevent the use of names from being inaccurate or insulting. It also provides us with a standard format for naming any coronavirus in the future.
