Apple’s real wireless headsets (AirPods, AirPods Pro, Powerbeats Pro, etc.) are likely to top 100 million this year, according to the latest data from PointResearch, continuing to dominate the global market. Demand for true wireless headsets far exceeded expectations, growing 53% to 51 million in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Total sales of true wireless headsets were 130 million in FY19. The U.S. saw the largest growth rate, up 76% year-on-year and accounting for 35% of the global share.
Last October, Apple released a new AirPods Pro headset that continues to help the market grow. AirPods Pro initially had limited supply, but sales reached 6 million. Apple’s real wireless headset sales are no longer up to the challenge, with manufacturers vying for second place, such as Samsung and Sony.
