Samsung and Netflix team up: Galaxy users enjoy exclusive content

At Tuesday’s Unpacked launch, Samsung highlighted its cooperation with Netflix after announcing the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. And at the launch, Jackie Lee-Joe, Netflix’s chief marketing officer, appeared on the show and said Galaxy users could dominate more of Netflix’s content, such as behind-the-scenes and bundled content.

Samsung and Netflix have created a Samsung Channel that will feature videos shot by regular and professional users of the S20. Samsung, meanwhile, can help S20 actively download videos they want to see through its smart assistant Bixby, even if users forget what they want to download.

The partnership also offers netflix benefits, helping to differentiate services on increasingly competitive streaming platforms and enhance collaboration with the world’s largest smartphone makers. Netflix’s global subscriber growth is now largely driven by outside the U.S., the fastest-growing company of its kind, so the company is increasing its investment in non-English-language content. Some of Netflix’s new content will be exclusive to Samsung phones and will be bundled with original shows such as Narcos and Elite, most of which are non-English speaking.
