13 (Xinhua) — Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is scheduled to visit India later this month, a test for the Indian executive, who recently criticized India’s immigration policy, according to people familiar with the matter. India is an important market for Microsoft and other technology companies. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos visited India just last month.
Nadella was born in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad and is now home to Microsoft’s largest research and development center outside the United States.
Nadella plans to travel to India from February 24 to 26 and may visit the Indian capital, New Delhi, the technology hub of Bangalore and the financial hub of Mumbai, according to people familiar with the matter.
He is also likely to meet with Indian industry leaders during his visit. Microsoft has also tried to arrange a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but it has not yet been determined.
The source declined to be identified because Microsoft has not yet made an announcement.
