A Tesla owner recently saw the Model X as his lifesaver because the car had braked as it was about to rush off the mountain road, media reported. Some people here may blame Autopilot for the crash. In fact, however, Justin Bowen, the protagonist of the accident, said autopilot was not opened at the time, but that the mountain was notoriously dangerous.
“As soon as I left the road and entered the extreme slope, Autopilot activated the emergency brake. (It) saved my life. “
The rescue video shared by Bowen shows the mountain slope very shaking, with the tow truck driver describing the slope at a 70-degree angle. All in all, the consequences of another car might have been unthinkable if Bowen had been driving.
Bowen added that he was not injured and that Model X was not seriously injured.
Despite Tesla’s controversy, there is no denying that the company has designed some of the safest cars on the planet. Model X, for example, is the first SUV ever rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that has a 5-star crash rating in all categories.
