Tesla revealed in its annual report today that the Securities and Exchange Commission issued a subpoena to it in December for specific financial information. “On December 4, 2019, the SEC issued a subpoena to us for specific financial data and contractual information, including Tesla’s regular financing arrangements,” Tesla said in the filing. “
The report did not specify what data the SEC asked Tesla to provide, or what financial arrangements it would have. The SEC declined to comment, and Tesla has not responded to a request for comment.
In addition, Tesla disclosed in its report that the SEC had closed its investigation into Tesla’s production forecastfor the Model 3. In 2018, the SEC launched an investigation into Model 3 production data.
