Tesla has now started offering 390 miles (about 630 kilometers) of range for Tesla Model S and Model X cars. So far, the model S’s high-end version offers up to 373 miles of range. Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter today that all Model S and Model X cars made in recent months will be upgraded to 390 miles of EPA range. Tesla will soon unlock the range for free with a software update for the cars it sells.
Musk also revealed that the improved wheels/tires could also boost the Model S and Model X mileage up to 400 miles, and that Tesla will also offer new wheel/tire options for all owners of older models.
In the past few months, Tesla has not released new models, but has introduced many improvements in body hardware and software systems for the Model S and Model X.
When you buy the new Tesla Model S today, it will have a few more significant improvements from last year’s model.
