After winning four Oscars, “The Parasite” continues to show his radiation ability in North America,media reported. The film grossed $5.5 million in North America over the weekend, bringing its global total to $204 million, Variety reported. That’s a 234 percent increase from before last weekend’s Oscars.
The film grossed $8.8 million in the U.S. in the week after the Oscars, or 20 percent of the total.
The $204 million was $44 million at the U.S. box office, while $160 million came from both south Korea and overseas markets.
The winner of the Academy Award for best picture usually has a significant box office increase after the awards ceremony, with last year’s “Green Book” up 121% after the award. “The Parasite” rose 234 percent at the weekend, the highest increase in best picture in a decade after the Academy Awards.
