(Video) Galaxy Z Flip Dust-proof Ingest: The Fiber Shield at The Hinge is the same as the Virtual

IFixit, a well-known domestic maintenance team, has disassembled the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to give us a better understanding of the internal structure of Samsung’s second collapsible phone and revealed that the brush in the hinge section could not prevent a lot of dust from entering the phone’ interior. So what is the actual dust-proof effect? iFixit conducted the actual test.

Announcing the Z Flip last week, Samsung stressed that it has a “fibre shield” in the hingesection of the phone to prevent debris from entering the phone’s interior. It looks impressive in the marketing photos, but iFixit tested the fiber shield – and the results weren’t ideal.

For better testing, the iFixit team placed Z Flip and some purple powder in the same bag and then shook it for a while before removing it. Later, in the dismantling of Flip, it was found that the inside of the phone was filled with purple powder, even preventing the hinges from opening completely. This is a hinge completely removed from the phone, covered with purple dust. You can also see the fiber shield framed by the iFixit white rectangle. Interestingly, they look clean, which may indicate that they don’t actually block that much dust.
