It looks like next-generation consoles have their own upgrades and improvements to the game’s sound performance. Last year Sony officially confirmed that the PS5 will have a custom 3D audio unit, and according to gDC 2020 official release, Microsoft’s next-generation console Xbox Series X will have a proprietary audio hardware acceleration feature that will further enhance the immersiveness of next-generation games.
“From the audio designers of Masterless Land 3 and War Machine 5, we learn how microsoft, Dolby and our middleware partners have worked together to revolutionise space sound, turning any headset into a multi-dimensional entrance to another world. Attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of the Project Acoustics pipeline and what it means for the proprietary hardware acceleration of new Xbox consoles. ”
It is worth noting that Microsoft Advanced Technology Audio specialist Rober Ridihalgh will also attend the GDC 2020 conference on March 18.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X will be available by the end of the year.
