Friendliness re-downgraded: Edge visits Chrome Web Marketplace to display security alerts

Microsoft’s new Edge and Chrome have many similarities, both built on the Chromium platform, and the default Web rendering engine is also Blink. Still, some Google services aren’t friendly to the new Edge. Now that users visit the Chrome Web Store, Google is starting to display security warnings.

Friendliness re-downgraded: Edge visits Chrome Web Marketplace to display security alerts

Google has previously displayed warnings when users opened services such as Google Teams, Gmail, Google Docs and YouTube Music in their Edge browsers. As some users have reported, Google’s service displays a warning when it finds the Microsoft Edge field in the User Agent. Switching the user agent from Edg – Windows to Chrome – Windows works fine.

If you change the user agent, the absurd error will automatically disappear. It’s also worth noting that Google doesn’t display the error in other Chromium browsers, such as Opera and Brave. Google’s warning didn’t actually affect Edge’s ability to safely use and run Chrome extensions. You can still install extensions as usual, but such security warnings can keep users away from The Edge.
