According tomedia reports, TrendForce’s research arm DRAMeXchange released the global DRAM manufacturer’s revenue ranking for the fourth quarter of 2019, with Samsung ranked first, followed bySK Hynix and Micron.

In terms of revenue for the fourth quarter of 2019, the top six DRAM manufacturers are Samsung,SK Hynix, Micron, South Asia Technologies (Nanya), Winbond and Powerchip.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, Samsung’s DRAM revenue was $6.761 billion, down 5% from a quarter earlier, and its market share was 43.5 percent, down from 45.1 percent in the previous quarter.

SK Helix’s DRAM revenue in the fourth quarter of 2019 increased 2.9 percent to $4.537 billion, up 29.2 percent from 28 percent in the previous quarter.

Micron’s DRAM revenue for the fourth quarter of last year was $3.469 billion, up 2.1 percent from the previous quarter and 22.3 percent, up from 21.5 percent in the previous quarter.

South Asia Technology’s DRAM revenue in the fourth quarter fell 9.3 per cent from the previous quarter to $430m, representing a 2.8 per cent market share, down from 3 per cent in the previous quarter.

In the fourth quarter of last year, Huabang’s DRAM revenue was $141m, down 9.8 per cent from the previous quarter and a market share of 0.9 per cent, down from 1 per cent in the previous quarter.

As for Lijing Technology, its DRAM revenue for the fourth quarter was $62 million, down 20.7 percent from the previous quarter and a market share of 0.4 percent, down from 0.5 percent in the previous quarter.

Overall, global DRAM revenue edged down 1.5 percent to $15.535 billion in the fourth quarter from the previous quarter. In addition toSK Hynix, Meiguang, other DRAM plants have seen different degrees of decline in revenue.

From a profitability perspective, almost all suppliers except Samsung failed to turn a profit in the fourth quarter of last year, mainly because their average sales price (ASPs) fell another 7-8% from the previous quarter.

In the fourth quarter of last year, Samsung managed to increase its operating margin to 36 percent from 33 percent in the third quarter of last year, as the company’s transition to a 1Y-nm process reduced costs.

SK Helix’s profitability in the fourth quarter of last year was negatively impacted by the costs of its transition to the 1Y-nm process.

In the first quarter of fiscal 2020 (September-November last year), Micron’s operating margin was 20%, down from 24% in the previous quarter.
