HTC may struggle in mobile, but it is still one of the leaders in the virtual reality (VR) market, according tomedia. HTC VIVE remains a household name in the Chinese market, second only to Oculus, the technology pioneer, and the Taiwanese-based company seems intent on maintaining that status.
HTC is understood to have launched a growing number of VR headsets, almost in line with its old strategy in the smartphone space, starting today with Cosmos Elite.
Unlike smartphones that compete on low prices, HTC’s VR headset sits on the cards for example because it actually sells for twice as much as its competitors. Ironically, instead of succumbing to demand, HTC chose to launch a VR device that was more expensive than its peers.
VivE Cosmos Elite is reportedto a model with some of the best features from the HTC VR platform. The VR set costs $899 and includes a pair of handles in addition to the hood. In HTC’s own view, Cosmos Elite will be the VR experience that elite VR players want most.
THE HTC VIVE COSMOS ELITE WILL BEGIN SHIPPING ON MARCH 18.
