According tomedia reports, Volkswagen has released its latest 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI, the latest generation of iconic hatchbacks, and brings an electric friend. It is reported that the new Golf GTI and 2021 Golf GTE hybrid car, which will debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, will showcase new energy technology and its harmonious relationship with the original system.
It was learned that both new cars were based on the 8th-generation Golf, released by Volkswagen last October. At the time, the car company also showed off a new infotainment system that had been redesigned for the car, which included a 10-inch central touch screen and a digital dashboard cockpit.
2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI
The most important element of the car is, of course, the powertrain, which VW opted for a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of peak torque. Its standard configuration – at least in the European market – will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A 7-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission option is also available.
The new Golf GTI features the McPherson front axle and multi-link rear suspension system, as well as a new vehicle dynamics manager combination, which will enable the XDS and the adjusting dampers of the optional DCC system to combine.
Among them, the DCC adaptive chassis control is adjusted by the drive mode system, and the shock absorbers of each wheel are adjusted according to road conditions, for example, in comfort mode, the Golf GTI will be as decoupled to the road as possible, while in sport, it will reduce body movement and the most direct handling. A single pattern makes precise adjustments possible, even without the limitations of pre-configured patterns.
Outside the car, LED headlights use standard Golf GTI lights. The radiator grille below is a large cellular air intake with an integrated fog light.
As for the wheels, the 17-inch Richmond alloy is standard, while the wheels are available in 18 inches and 19 inches. Although the red brake caliper is optional, the wider black threshold is standard. They are connected to the new rear expander and are equipped with a unique roof spoiler. LED taillights are standard, with two exhaust pipes left and right.
Inside the car, the three silver double-spokes and red embellished design combinations give the steering wheel a very sporty feel, as well as the seats to allow people to feel the strong sports wind. The steering wheel now has a new touch button – optional – that allows the Golf GTI to reach 130mph.
As for infotainment, the car comes with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit and a 10-inch infotainment display. The standard feature background lighting comes in 30 different colors, as well as a switch button that allows the door to emit red lights when it is opened.
In addition to lane assist, front automatic emergency braking, pedestrian monitoring and an XDS electronic differential lock, the on-board communications system Car2X, single-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and two USB-C ports are standard configuration features, although navigation and keyless input are optional.
2021 Volkswagen Golf GTE
In addition to the 2021 Golf GTI, Volkswagen also introduced the 2021 Golf GTE, an plug-in hybrid car. It is reported that the car’s output power can reach the same value as the gasoline version of the Golf GTE, that is, 241 horsepower – through the 1.4-liter turbocharged gas engine and electric engine.
It is understood that Volkswagen for the new Golf GTE launched a new set of lithium-ion battery, 6-speed DSG transmission as standard. Its torque peak is actually better than gtI, reaching 295 lb-ft. In addition, the GTE will be able to drive all-electric for about 37 miles and reach a top speed of 80 mph in electric mode. In fact, when the battery is fully charged, the car can be activated by default with an all-electric E-Mode.
When in mixed driving mode, the driver can choose to use the battery’s charge, keep it at current level or use the fuel engine to increase the charge. Vw’s navigation system takes road conditions and terrain data into account to find the best route, and even actively adjusts the charging settings for optimal range.
Pricing and time to market for the 2021 Golf GTI and GTI
Unfortunately, VW hasn’t said when the new car will be available. As for the price is also currently in a state of confidentiality.
