The Chromium-based Edge browser is still under development, testing and deploying new features starting with the Canary channel version. TechDows recently noticed that in the latest version of Edge Canary, users are allowed to set the browser as the system’s default browser, but it is disabled by default and microsoft does not recommend it.

On the settings page, Microsoft prompts that “The Canary Channel version is not suitable as your default browser.” The Canary channel version is not stable, and it gets daily updates to validate BUG fixes and test new features. “This button is gray disabled by default and will jump to the default app page for Windows settings, where you can set Edge Canary as the default browser.
