GDC’s top sponsors continue to pull out of the San Francisco game, media reported. On February 28th, local time, Amazon announced that it would not send employees to the event this year. The company said it would hold a “global online event” to share the details they plan to detail at the conference. Amazon Game Tech is the “Diamond Partner” of this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), a designation that means the company is a sponsor of an integral role in GDC’s success.
Currently, the only diamond partners that have not officially exited are Intel, Nvidia and Google.
Facebook, Sony, Microsoft, Unity and Epic Games have all announced their withdrawal from GDC amid concerns about an outbreak of new coronary pneumonia. Now, Amazon is joining their ranks.
