As one of the old players in the field of performance cars, Audi is reluctant to make electric cars a mere commuter tool.
So in the world premiere of the new Audi E-Tron Sportback and Audi E-Tron Family S models on March 3rd, Audi said the two models would be “more agile, violent and dynamic” than the regular version.
All thanks to Audi’s three-motor drive system (rear-axle dual motor, front-axle single motor) for the E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback, which increased the power of the S version from 265 kW to 320 kW.

Although the S version of the E-Tron is equipped with a three-motor drive system, they are not always working. In “normal driving” mode, only two electric power espresso on the rear axle is powered. When the driver needs more power, the front axle motor will be silently involved.
The configuration of the three motors also gives the car torque vector capability. In short, different power is provided to different axles or wheels in real time, giving the car maximum grip in any situation.
Despite the three-motor drive system, the two new electric cars are not the ultimate in performance, and Tesla can still shake them off. However, for the luxurious four-door model, this performance has been quite strong.
For now, Audi has not announced when and how much the S version of the E-Tron will be available. But they claim that the S version of the E-Tron will be “the first three-motor production model in the world.” As for whether Audi can pre-empt Tesla’s production of the three-motor model, time will tell (the future Tesla Model S/X/Roadster/Cybertruck will be available with a three-motor version codenamed Plaid).

As far as the information is available, the S version of the E-Tron uses the 95kWh battery on the regular version, which lasts a little more than 200 miles. If you add a third motor, the weight of the car will inevitably increase. At the same time, improved performance also means faster power consumption. As BMW’s first all-electric four-door coupe, the BMW i4 concept car was also unveiled on March 3rd.
The concept car features BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive electric drive technology and is equipped with an ultra-thin battery with a better energy density to deliver up to 530 horsepower. At the same time, the development and production of eDrive electric drive technology, including battery research, is done by the BMW Group itself.
The BMW i4 concept car’s 600 km range also greatly relieves the user’s mileage anxiety. In terms of performance, it takes only about 4 seconds to accelerate from stationary to 100 km/ and has a top speed of more than 200 km/h.
