To come to this conclusion, a team of scientists from Italy’s National Institute of Astrophysicists conducted an analysis in Turin, where the Gaia Space Telescope observed the movement of 12 million giant stars in the Milky Way.
“We measure the speed of warping by comparing the data with our models,” Eloisa Poggio of the Turin Observatory for Object said in a statement. Depending on the speed obtained, the meridian will complete a rotation around the center of the Milky Way in 60 to 700 million years. “
