Microsoft has proposed allowing all employees in Seattle or San Francisco to work from home by March 9. Today, Microsoft employee Frank Shaw tweeted a picture of a makeshift office environment at home. But the photo doesn’t reveal any useful information, except that Surface Duo appears in the lower-left corner of the picture.
Windows Central thinks surface Duo will be powered by a Qualcomm SnapDragon 855 processor instead of the latest 865, with the entry model’s storage configuration set at 6GB of RAM plus 64GB ROM. This means surface Duo will most likely not support 5G, or, like the first generation of 5G phones, with an external X50 baseband. Media stressed that “missing 5G support is much more serious than thought.” “If Surface Duo uses a SnapDragon 855 processor and doesn’t support 5G, it’s likely that it will be considered “obsolete” by the market at the time of release.”
