First Microsoft Linux Conference WSLConf changed to online for everyone

According to the latest announcement from Canonical, the first WSLConf, originally scheduled for Microsoft HQ, will be streamed live online from March 10 to 11. WSLConf is the first Linux-related conference hosted by Microsoft, and Canonical is its “special sponsor.”

The event will feature presentations from developers, security experts, teams at Canonical and Microsoft, and other community members. “This is an exclusive opportunity to connect directly with the WSL engineering team,” canonical said. “

When the conference was first announced last year, WSLConf declared that “participants will be able to participate in hackathons and practice workshops and drink with other WSL developers and enthusiasts”, and that the current offline communication is not possible. But on the plus side, the number of pre-registered participants has more than doubled since the meeting was switched online. Canonical welcomed this and “delighted to be able to open our first WSL meeting free of charge to a global audience.”

This WSLConf includes the following topics:

Build, test, and deploy with Kubernetes on WSL

Accelerate IoT development with WSL

Latest news from the WSL and Windows Terminal teams

Demonstration of WSL integration with Visual Studio and JetBrains IDE

WSL2-based Docker desktop technology in-depth exploration

Question and answer with WSL chief developer Ben Hillis

How to secure WSL deployments in an enterprise environment

UnIX System Administrator’s Use of WSL
