By 2023, Gm will be targeting a total of 20 new electric cars, but not all of them are designed for the U.S., foreign media reported. The company will definitely take into account the reality that China is the world’s largest EV market. At this point, GM’s latest EV for the Chinese market is the Menlo EV.
A Chevrolet executive confirmed that the product was specifically designed for the Chinese market and that the company had no plans to bring it to the U.S. market.
Unfortunately, GM did not elaborate further on the details of the car. Only the vehicle’s range is currently known to be 410 km based on the European new driving cycle test standard. This figure is very close to that of the Buick Velite 6, which could mean that the two models share a lot of the same technology. The Velite 6 is another EV that GM will only be sold in the Chinese market. But Chang will be the company’s first EV sold in China.
It is understood that Chang tour used the design inspiration from the FNR-X concept car that the company exhibited in China a few years ago.
As for the interior because GM didn’t release the picture, but its front end is very much like the FNR-X, and the car sideways is a bit like the Subaru Outback.
In addition, according to the information shared by GM, the car will be equipped with a new generation of MyLink infotainment system, plus a digital key, intelligent speech recognition system.
With Chevrolet set to launch the electric car in the first half of next year, it is confident it will announce more details in the near future.
